When a person places their faith in Christ they are not just escaping judgment, they are embracing a call to discipleship. To be a disciple means to learn how to worship and how to love. In this study we will examine the essential kinds of love that all disciples of Jesus need to be developing. We will also discover that when Christ is at the center of our love relationships that they become a tool for Him to show us His magnificent grace. Essentials was written as an introductory study to Love Letters, to introduce the three Dynamic Relationships of a Disciple that each of the lessons in Love Letters focus on. Essentials can be used as a kick-off retreat or used weekly for the four weeks leading into beginning the Love Letters study. Essentials is a 4 lesson study for students.

How to Use
The Essentials lessons are divided into student and leader PDF books. Two options for student resources are provided. The "Student Pages" file contains single page worksheets for the students to use each week. The "Student Booklet" file contains half size pages that can easily be printed out and bound together as a booklet or put in a mini three-ring binder. Each lesson is divided into three parts: Breaking the Ice, Aiming for the Heart, Making It Real. In the Breaking the Ice section, your students will have some activity to complete that will help them go from the secular to the sacred. The Aiming for the Heart section is where you will communicate the gospel-centered timeless truth from God’s word. Lastly, the Making It Real section, will give your students time to reflect on what they have learned and applying it to their own context. Each lesson should take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
